Can Sending Business Christmas Cards Really Be Effective?

October 31st, 2009 by admin

Have you considered mailing business Christmas cards to your customers this year?  You may be surprised at how remembering your clients with one little card can be so effective.

Sending business Christmas cards can accomplish two different things. First, they are a relatively inexpensive way to show appreciation and send best wishes to current customers. Second, they can be used to further relations with prospective clients.  Business is all about relationships so anything you can do to strengthen or create them is definitely good for your company. Remembering your clients during the busy holiday season will make them feel appreciated and important knowing you thought of them.

There are several things to keep in mind when choosing and sending your personalized business holiday cards:

Mailing List – Current clients should definitely receive Christmas cards since they have given you business over the past year.  Past customers who may not have used your services recently should be included as they might just reactivate their account with you once again after receiving your personalized Christmas card.  Any prospective customers you have been dealing with will also be quite impressed if you remember them even though they haven’t used your services yet – building relationships is the key.

Style – Make sure you select a high quality card since it will be representing your business.  Also selecting cards with general phrases such as ‘Seasons Greetings’ or ‘Happy Holidays’ is suggested since your customer list may encompass various religious backgrounds.   Lastly, there may be cards designed for your specific industry.

Calendar cards are also an excellent option since they can be displayed year round by your clients in their office both as a handy calendar and also as a constant reminder of your company throughout the year.

How to Personalize – Ordering your personalized business Christmas cards from a printer will make your company imprint look professional.  Some card designs will also allow for your company logo to help with your branding. Adding your handwritten signature near the imprint on the cards is also highly recommended. If other staff members also work closely with your customers, you may want them to also sign the cards.  Another nice personal touch is handwriting a personal message addressed directly to the recipient inside their card.

Addressing Envelopes – Make sure your list has the current mailing address and proper contact person for each account.  Use titles such as Ms. and Mr. when addressing the envelopes.  It is preferred that the addresses be handwritten versus having computer generated labels. Such a personal touch will make a positive impact.

Inserts – To give your current and prospective customers something they can keep after the Christmas card is discarded, be sure to insert at least one of your business cards so they always have your contact information handy.

Finally, be sure to purchase and mail your personalized business Christmas cards early so they don’t get caught up in the holiday mail rush at the Post Office. Being prompt with your cards will also positively reflect on your company.

Even though customer relationships are strengthened throughout the year, the holidays are the perfect time to reach out to your clients one more time. Tis the season to be appreciative of current customers and to extend best wishes for prosperity in the coming year. Business Christmas cards provide the ideal, cost-effective way to stay in touch with clients during the holiday season.
