How to give your office a makeover
Do you wish you didn’t have to get up and go to work every morning? Are you sick of spending your days in a stuffy office, counting down the minutes? OK, so in an ideal world we would never have to work. We’d all be living a life of luxury without a care in the world. But really, that’s never going to happen. In fact with the economic recession, many of us are having to spend even more time than usual at work just to make ends meet.
So what are we supposed to do? If we can’t change things how can we improve them? Well, to start with your office shouldn’t be a place that makes you feel depressed. It should be a comfortable space where you feel relaxed, at ease and able to get on with your work without feeling like the walls are closing in. If that’s the way you feel about going in to work, maybe it’s time to give your office a makeover.
Even a large office can feel oppressive if it’s cluttered and badly organised. Too often offices are packed with unnecessary furniture that gets in the way, and cluttered with machinery that could be better stored elsewhere. You might think you have no alternative but office suppliers have all sorts of useful office furniture that can help you to maximise your space and get your office looking sleek, comfortable and modern at the same time.
Take some time to think about exactly what you want from your workspace - do you need a bigger desk, more storage, a new filing system? Do you need new seating for workers, or somewhere to keep your printer/coper away from your personal workspace? Perhaps you feel you need to completely rearrange or redesign your office to maximise the space better. Whatever you need from your workspace you will be able to find a solution that suits you.
Think carefully about the people who will be working in the space and their individual needs. You can get a huge range of ergonomically designed office furniture purposely made to make staff more comfortable at work. Ergonomic workstations and seating are designed to help reduce the injuries that office workers can often suffer from, such as lower back pain and RSI. This means staff will be generally healthier and happier, and take less time off with medical problems that could ahve been avoided.
Make sure you leave things as uncluttered as possible, that everyone has sufficient storage so desks aren’t messy and that the furniture is arranged in the best way to maximise what space you have. Your office will feel much more open and comfortable, and you’ll all feel more positive about spending so much time there. And you won’t feel like the walls are closing in!
You might be thinking it all sounds like too much effort, or a bit expensive to revamp a space that you only work in - not like you’re redesigning your home! But seriously. You’d feel so much better knowing that you were coming in each day to a sleek, uncluttered, aesthetically pleasing and completely personalised space, ergonomically designed to accommodate you and your needs. Not to mention healthy, happy workers make for a more productive environment – look at it as a business investment!
