Low Cost Spill Containment - Product Features And Benefits

October 21st, 2009 by admin

Spill 911, an industrial supply company, carries a large variety of sumps, spill berms and spill pallets, which are helpful in meeting the requirements of the EPA’s 40 CFR.264.175 regulations. The 4 Door Indoor Ultra-Modular IBC Spill Pallet is versatile and available in several sizes, which can help expand your storage capabilities. Additional components for this indoor unit can be purchased as separate units. This is helpful if you need to arrange specific configurations of the pallets to effectively utilize all of your storage space.

There are both indoor and outdoor pallets, which are low profile, and each has a spill containment capacity of 75 gallons. They are made of durable, chemical-resistant polyethylene. Each Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) sits on one of the heavy duty pallets which has a load bearing capacity of 9000 lbs. There is a 65 gallon Expansion Tank available which increases the storage capacity and connects to the pallet with 1.25″diameter flow-through bulkhead fittings. This channels the spills from connected adjacent pallets in the containment system and into the Expansion Tank.

The bulkhead fittings are included with each spill pallet and two fittings are needed to connect one modular spill pallet to another. This feature allows several pallets to be connected together thus increasing storage capacity. When five or more spill pallets are connected together, the total containment is at least 375 gallons. You won’t be needing an expansion tank when this is done. Federal regulations require a storage capacity of either the volume of the largest container or 10% of the total aggregate volume of the containers stored (whichever is greater). Both indoor and outdoor pallets can hold:

  • 2 Tanks or IBCs
  • 3 Tanks or IBCs
  • 4 Tanks or IBCs
  • 5 Tanks or IBCs

Outdoor Models of Ultra-Modular IBC Spill Pallets
The Outdoor Models are in compliance with the EPA regulations for container storage and also meet the Storm Water Management regulations. These pallets are viewed as a positive example of a “Best Management Practice” (BMP) for handling storm water effectively.

Indoor Models of Ultra-Modular IBC Spill Pallets

These Indoor IBC Spill Pallets are quite useful in meeting the new EPA regulations for Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC), as well as complying with the EPA Container Storage regulations, which are outlined in 40 CFR 264.177. These regulations are designed to address the requirements needed for containing and storing incompatible hazardous waste. These spill pallets satisfy regulations outlined in EPA 40 CFR 265.177, also.

An assembly kit, UT-1118-0001, will be needed to assemble the unit and should be ordered from Spill 911 along with the spill pallets. This kit contains sufficient equipment and supplies to put together an unlimited number of spill pallets units.  All of these products can be viewed at Spill911.com.
